| Other Info | Tickets Door / Advance | £5 An evening of electro-acoustic song and original synthpop at the Brunswick, Hove. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Abi Wade is a musical collaboration between limbs, cello, voice and looping technology. The cello is the backbone to her songs, used as a percussive instrument; hitting it with sticks and beaters while plucking and bowing it, often simultaneously. She has toured the UK & Europe with Patrick Wolf, played festivals such as End of The Road, The Great Escape and Wilderness, and played shows with the likes of CocoRosie, Dan Mangan, Other Lives & Deptford Goth. Her music has also been used on MTV series ‘Awkward’ and Cinemax series ‘Banshee’. “She’s not quite avant-garde but she’s not really toeing any other line either” Higher Plain “A truly gorgeous and mesmerising piece of work from an exciting new talent.” - BrightonsFinest “A glorious, wailing cellist in a jumpsuit, who even at her fussiest managed an itchy thrill and prompted memories of everyone from Kate Bush to Joanna Newsom” - The Scottish Herald ‘Intense, focussed vocals make this strong; but Wade’s incredible cello and electronic work make the song more powerful still’ - New Internationalist ---------------------------------------------------------------- The best electro pop band you’ve never heard of? Embracing 70‘s, 80’s and contemporary electronic musical influences Sweet Machine craft danceable, melodic, synthpop songs for the masses. They have recorded two albums, ‘Electric Soup’ and ’1979’, along with their recent EP ‘Silver’ released in 2019. Their live set includes a mixture of tracks from both albums plus new material. Live appearances have included Brockley Max (with Kumo and Rodney Cromwell) The Frome Festival, support slots for Huey Morgan and Gene Serene (The Frixion), along with their own ‘Electrofied’ events where they have performed along side Laugh Clown Laugh, STEREO KELA, Mëi, INVADR, Lorenz Attraction & Vida Futura. "A full house danced to the bands twin synthesisers, almost emulating the bridge of Star Ship Enterprise; with dual vocalists, an ace base and psychedelic effects to glam the night to a higher plain" - www.musiceye.org All advance ticket holders receive 20% OFF their food bill.
